How to get to the Ribera Sacra
The nearest airport is Santiago de Compostela, about 140 km away, although this depends on your final destination.
From Santiago de Compostela or Lugo with Monbús, or from outside Galicia with ALSA.
Monforte de Lemos can be reached by train from A Coruña, Ponferrada (and the north of the peninsula), and Ourense, the latter station connecting with Madrid.
The car is the best way to enjoy the Ribeira Sacra. To get there, if you are coming from the south-east of the peninsula via the interior, take the A52, and when you reach Ourense, take the OU0514 (although this depends on where you start your journey or where you are staying).
A car will allow you to access the viewpoints, monasteries and wineries. The area is connected by various national and regional roads, and some sections of high-capacity roads. If you are coming by other means, you can hire a car in Monforte, Santiago de Compostela or Lugo.
